Here at Thornbridge we are always looking for ways to give back to our community, something which has become even more important over the course of the last year. We’re delighted to be able to support a number of charities and causes by doing what we do best, brewing great beer!
This time last year we wanted to find a way to support NHS workers supporting us through the pandemic, having launched a discount for all NHS workers for beer ordered via our webshop, we decided to go a step further and brew a beer to support NHS Charities Together.
As 2020 was The Year of the Nurse and Midwife as well as the celebration of what would have been Florence Nightingale’s 200th birthday we chose the name Florence as an acknowledgement to Florence Nightingale, the founder of modern nursing and one-time local resident of Derbyshire.
The first batch of Florence sold out in record speed and in February this year we decided to release a second batch. Once we sell through this second brew you all will have helped us to raise an outstanding £30k for NHS Charities Together, supporting the work of NHS staff across the country.
Florence is a 4.5% session IPA with a stone fruit aroma and a defined bitterness on the palate and is available to buy here.
Earlier this year we launched our collaboration with International cricket star and England Test team captain Joe Root MBE. All profits from ‘Root 66’ (named after Joe Root’s shirt number and nickname) will be donated to the Sheffield Children’s Hospital Charity, of which Joe Root is the patron.
Thornbridge have been long term supporters of the Sheffield Children’s Hospital Charity and were thrilled to be partnering with Joe on such an important cause.
Root 66 is a 6.6%, Centurion IPA. Expect ripe hedgerow fruit on the nose and a full bodied, honeyed malt character on the palate. Root 66 is available to buy here.
