In March 2020 we suspended Brewery Tours due to the Covid -19 pandemic and began to look for a way we could give visitors the full Thornbridge experience in the future whilst ensuring we put the health and safety of our team and visitors first.
For those of you who have joined us on brewery tours in the past you will be aware that our brewery is a full-scale production facility, and as a result we were already fairly heavily restricted as to which parts of the brewery we were allowed to take visitors into due to health and safety guidelines. Scalding water, wet floors, caustic soda, steam, hot metal tanks etc are not conducive to keeping visitors safe! Furthermore, we have added new tanks and equipment over the course of the last year (to ensure we can keep up with demand!) which has subsequently reduced open floor space for our staff to operate in without the increased footfall of visitors.
However, we appreciate that visitors want to understand all things Thornbridge (as well as drink the beer!), so we have been working hard over the past few months on developing a way in which we can tell the Thornbridge story and showcase the brewery and the intricate elements of the brewing process, without putting our staff or our valued customers at risk.
We have been working closely with an incredibly talented videographer to capture everything from our humble brewing beginnings at Thornbridge Hall to the commercially scaled brewery at Riverside. The film produced will go on to be a part of ‘The Thornbridge Experience’ – which will centre around a tutored tasting of our beers in our brand new Taproom which is just a few steps from Riverside brewery and which also houses the old Thornbridge Hall brewery which has been relocated and re-commissioned to brew our rotating cask ales on site in the Taproom.
All existing brewery tour vouchers will be valid for The Thornbridge experience. We are still honing the exact intricacies of The Thornbridge Experience and we will be releasing more information as soon as possible. Check out the video below for a sneak peek of what we’ve been working on.
