International Women's Day 2025

International Women's Day 2025

To celebrate International Women's Day this year, we've created and collaborated on two special cask beers that highlight our passion for brewing and our commitment to supporting women in the industry.

Bess 5.5% Strong Brown Ale

Named after Bess of Hardwick, a formidable Derbyshire-born woman who became one of the most powerful and wealthy figures of her time, this beer pays tribute to her strength and legacy. The pump clip design is inspired by one of her most treasured possessions- a beautifully intricate textile wall hanging.

Tasting Notes:

Bess pours a rich mahogany with a creamy, off-white head. Expect enticing aromas of caramel, chocolate, and subtle fruit undertones. On the palate, a carefully curated malt bill delivers a well-rounded balance of soft sweetness, biscuit, and hints of marmalade, all complemented by traditional English hops.

This recipe was crafted by Alice, one of our talented brewers, while the stunning pump clip was designed by our in-house creative, Rebecca.

Where to Find It:

Bess will be widely available in Wetherspoons venues, as well as selected locations throughout March and April 2025.

Are We There Yet? 4% Coffee Mild

Brewed in collaboration with our friends at Castle Rock, this beer is a celebration of International Women's Day and the incredible women behind it.

Tasting Notes:

This smooth, flavourful mild boasts the rich, inviting aroma of freshly brewed coffee. On the palate, expect a velvety blend of caramel and decadent chocolate, beautifully enhanced by single-origin, ethically sourced Colombian coffee from local roasters Stewarts of Trent Bridge.

Alice, Laura, Rebecca, Katie, and Charlotte from Thornbridge joined the Castle Rock team to brew this special beer- an amazing collaboration bringing women from across the industry together.

Cheers to Women in Brewing!

We hope you enjoy this year's International Women's Day beers as much as we loved brewing them. Raise a glass with us and celebrate the brilliant women in brewing! Cheers!
